PRALL TESTER
DUAL-CHAMBER ABRASION TESTER
A
high-quality,
repeatable,
and
reproducible
machine
complying
with
EN
12697-16
A,
featuring
dual
chambers
for
reduced
variability.
Studded
tyres
help
prevent
skidding
and
accidents
on
snow
or
ice
but
cause
costly
pavement
wear,
rutting,
and
dust
pollution.
The
Prall
Test
(Method
A)
remains
the
most
effective
method
to
assess
abrasion
caused by studded tyres.
To
enhance
accuracy
and
repeatability,
Cooper
developed
the
CRT-PRALL
with
a
dual-chamber
design
that
minimizes
variability
and
ensures
consistent
results.
The
tester
performs
the
Prall
Test
according
to
EN
12697-
16
Method
A,
in
which
a
cylindrical
asphalt
specimen
(100mm
diameter
x
30mm
height)
is
conditioned
to
5°C
and
subjected
to
abrasion
by
40
steel
spheres
for
15
minutes.
The
resulting
material
loss,
measured
in
millilitres,
represents
the
abrasion
value.
With
its
refined
construction
and
improved
reproducibility,
the
CRT-PRALL
provides
a
reliable
and
efficient
solution
for
evaluating asphalt resistance to studded tyre wear.

KEY USES
•
Determination of wearing of asphalt pavements
•
Investigation of abrasion due to studded tyres
SOFTWARE
•
User friendly and reliable control system controlled via PLC interface
•
The
interface
allows
the
user
to
set
the
temperature
of
the
water
reservoir,
speed
of
the
motor
and
the
flow
of
the
coolant
water
into
each
test chamber prior to starting the test
•
The
interface
displays
the
temperature
of
the
water
reservoir,
speed
of
the
motor
and
the
flow
of
the
coolant
water
into
each
test
chamber
•
Data is recorded throughout the test and can be exported to PC via a data stick for further analysis
•
The
safety
relay
ensures
that
the
door
on
any
test
chamber
does
not
open
until
the
motor
has
come
to
a
standstill
and
water
supply
has
been isolated
