Cooper Technology will be taking on the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK! (29th & 30th June 2018)
Joe Lomax, our friend and colleague sadly lost a close family member to cancer in September 2017. Joe and his family have selected Cancer Research UK as their chosen charity, raising money for other people that are currently suffering from the effects of such a horrible disease. You’ll struggle to find many people that haven’t been affected by cancer in some way, whether it’s a family member, friend or they have suffered from the disease themselves.
Members of Cooper Technology will be joining Joe and his family to take on the challenge to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK. Included in the Cooper Technology team is Craig Shaw, who has experienced the cancer first hand. Craig battled the disease and won. Craig was also one of the first from Cooper Technology to sign up to the Three Peaks Challenge. Clearly showing the drive and determination needed for our 24 hour journey.
What is the Three Peaks Challenge?
For those of you that don’t know, the Three Peaks Challenge involves scaling the tallest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales, all in the space of 24 hours. That’s right, Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon all in 24 hours!
- With a total ascent of a combined 3064 Metres (or 10,052 ft) or the equivalent of 9 and a bit Eiffel Towers (bottom to tip of the tower) or 3 1/2 Burj Khalifas! This challenge isn’t for the faint hearted.
- A total walking distance of 23 miles! (37 km)
- Total drive of 462 miles!
The challenge will begin on Friday 29th June at 5pm at the foot of Ben Nevis in Scotland and will finish once we have completed Snowdon (Wales). The main aim of the challenge is to raise money for Cancer Research UK. If you wish to donate, you can do so by visiting Joe’s Family’s Virgin Money Giving Page.
