As 2019 rolls to an end, we look back at the events and successes of 2019. The year started with the team jetting off to Washington, D.C. for TRB 2019. Whilst at the TRB, we had a wide range of products available to demonstrate on the stand: Texas Overlay Tester, Hamburg Wheel Tracker, Superpave Gyratory Compactor, Hydraulic Standard Roller Compactor Dual Size, Pendulum Skid Resistance Tester & cDAC Dimension.
After TRB saw the year move on to March and the arrival of the UK Concrete Show 2019! The UK Concrete Show is europe’s largest specialised concrete event with over 200 companies exhibiting at the NEC, Birmingham. At the stand, we once again demonstrated a selection of concrete testing equipment.
EATA 2019 saw us in Granada, Spain. The European Asphalt Technology Association was held in the month of June. EATA was founded at the University of Nottingham in 2004, it can trace its origins there back to 1973 at the University of Nottingham where a group of people with an interest in new developments in flexible pavement engineering met to hold informal discussions about their work, focussing, particularly, on new ideas and developments. The 3-day event in June 2019 focused on 2 elements:
- New needs and open problems on industrial applications of recycling of asphalt pavements (RILEM Technical Committee 264).
- Materials and Design for Airport Pavements (FAA & DGAC).
The end of EATA 2019 saw the beginning of The Big Bang East Midlands. Cooper Research Technology were in partnership with AECOM. The event offered students a unique opportunity to view civil engineering in action. We offered students a chance to crush their own concrete cube using our own 600kN Semi-Automatic Concrete Compression machine. The event was a success with over 3000 students attending with the hope that more students will grow up to want jobs/roles in the field of civil engineering.
In the month of September, Cooper Research Technology successfully transitioned to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, becoming one of the first companies in the UK to make the change to the new ISO accreditation. The new accreditation covers all laboratory activities, including testing, calibration and the sampling associated with subsequent calibration and testing. The end of 2019 saw a trip to Mexico for XX CILA 2019. Based in the city of Guadalajara, Cooper Research Technology participated in the16th CILA event. CILA is home to the leading specialists in the pavement sector in Latin America. CILA 2019 was the perfect ending to a busy end for 2019.
We look forward to a busy and successful 2020! Thank you for your continued custom throughout the year.
